2017 DOWN HOME CROSSFIT GAMES
When I was first confronted with the sign-up sheet for this event, I hesitated. You needed a team of 3 or you would be assigned a team if you were a free agent. But that wasn’t the reason why I hesitated. Flaco’s Tacos were being brought to Down Home’s 2017 Crossfit Games. The best damned tacos around were being brought to a competition at the start of the events. The momentary hesitation paid off tough as I was informed by Emily, one of the coaches at Down Home Crossfit, that I could write down “Tacos” and “Tacos” as my second and third teammates.
So I says to Mabel, I says..
Bring on the tacos! Instead, I volunteered to take photos of the all the fine men and women who did want to be the best at exercising.
The Down Home Games were laid out in 60 second increments with a few minutes of break in between each exercise. The exercises included pushups, kettlebell swings, pullups, air squats, jump rope charades, and a team sprint that tested both posture and speed among other things. It gave people time to eat, drink, watch the 2017 Crossfit Games on TV. Kudos to everyone who ate food and jumped into those exercises without vomiting.
The 2017 Down Home Crossfit Games were a blast to watch and (I’m sure) to compete in, so if you didn’t make it out this year, definitely make it for 2018. Visit them on Facebook and like their page, if you haven’t already, to find out about more upcoming events!
