Modeling headshots and portraits with Stephanie!

Baby Free!

I have been meaning to meet up with a friend of mine since last October(!) to do some fun headshots. A deployment, for Hurricane Irma relief, and a baby later I finally found myself with a baby-free afternoon! And, as luck would have it, my friend Stephanie was also free!! I wanted some new content to try out some advanced retouching techniques I learned and I told her to come over with 2-3 of her favorite outfits du jour. I asked her what her favorite type of dessert was so I could have it ready for this series of ridiculous portraits I’ve been working on.

Since this was my first session, behind the camera with Stephanie, I explained my style of directing. I generally like to give people actions to do. So, after doing some test shots (which my vacation friends always give me flak for) to dial in the exposure and get a few candids, I got this! Well, …close to this. The hair was perfect from one shot and the expression in another, which was perfect content for me to retouch.

Head turn hair toss!

This is a shot I got, when I asked Stephanie to get a little silly, in order to prepare for the utter destruction of Nestle Tollhouse chocolate chip cookie-dough that was about to happen.

Being goofy.

Yep, that’s about the right level of goofy right there that I was looking for! Stephanie got changed into a pretty white dress and I adjusted my exposure again before we broke out the cookie dough. Do you think Stephanie gets chip cookie dough all over her dress?

White Dress before cookie dough.

And I’ll leave you with that cliff-hanger, since I want to grow the series of dessert pictures before posting them.

I am looking for a few more to volunteer for the project, so let me know if you are interested.
